Studio Policies

Welcome!

Welcome to our new, beautiful studio! We love our state-of-the-art sprung floor made just for dancing, cozy neighborhood setting, and open-concept space. Help us keep our new studio looking fresh and dance classes flowing smoothly by remembering these simple do's and don’ts:

Quick Reminders:

Door is opened 10 minutes prior to the beginning of class, please put shoes in shoe cubbies, no food or drinks in the studio (this includes coffee and tea), please bring a water bottle and label it with your name.

WE LOVE:

WATER

Hydration is essential--especially when dancing! And water won’t stick or stain.

OBSERVERS

Yes! Support your child’s dance class by standing quietly and watching attentively in the designated waiting area or enjoy the Cobblestone outside our front door.

LEGAL PARKING

We are lucky to have so many legal parking options within walking distance of the Studio! We don’t want you to get a ticket, so drive by red zones and double parking look for these instead:

  • Metered Parking (Post and Sutter)
  • One and Two-Hour Parking (Bush, Pine, and Webster)
  • Hourly Parking (lots have entrances on Fillmore, Post and Geary)

TIMELINESS

The Studio door will open 10 minutes prior to dance class.  Here early? Great! Use the time before class to prepare both physically and mentally for your dance class. While you're waiting, you may watch another class at the discretion of the teacher, quietly stretch and warm up, or use the Studio facilities.  All dancers should remain off the dance floor until the teacher begins dance class.

Nagata Dance Mission

The mission of Nagata Dance is to enrich the lives of children and adults through a unique teaching method that inspires excellence, strengthens community, uplifts the human spirit, and fosters a lifelong passion for the arts.

Please AVOID:

STREET SHOES ON THE DANCE FLOOR, LONG DRESSES AND HAIR IN THE FACE

Dancers and observers alike: preserve our floor for the next generation of Nagata Dance students and performers! Slip off your shoes and store them in the cubbies by the stairs before entering the studio. Socks, bare feet, and dance shoes are welcome!  Though we encourage dress up especially for our Princess Ballerina class, please make sure dresses are knee level or above.  All hair should be pulled back and out of students face.

CELL PHONES

At Nagata Dance, we (that includes our observers and faculty!) check cell phones and other personal electronic beeping devices at the door. Please do not have cell phone conversations inside the Studio.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

We love water, but other foods and beverages can stain our floors and release smells that distract our focused Studio dancers, teachers, staff, and observers. Please keep your food safely packed away or enjoy it in the Buchannan Mall’s cherry-tree lined, cobblestone courtyard!

CONVERSATIONS IN THE STUDIO

Please have low volume conversations in the dance studio.

STROLLERS, BIKES, AND SKATEBOARDS

Please leave them downstairs against the wall.

PETS IN THE STUDIO

Some Nagata Dance students are allergic! Wait with your pet outside and we’ll meet him or her after dance class to keep all of our students feeling happy and healthy.
